HARD LESSONS a novel written by Rhonda McWhorter
I have come up with the story of Hard Lessons by revisiting current and past relationships of people that I know or have met and added a little twist of imagination as well as a bit of my own personal experiences. I wanted the characters in the book to be down to earth and be someone that the reader would identify with. You may read the story and think to yourself, "I know someone like that!" or "Is she talking about me?"
The novel of Hard Lessons will take the reader through the drama of relationships and what it takes to realize them through the character's mistakes. The main character De'Cee (pronounced D.C.) is a hard working single mom with a budding career but lost in a failed long distance relationship. She is being kept at bay by her non committing lover who only calls or comes by when he wants something. She is also closely being pursued by MarShawn, a long time acquaintance who has an even longer reputation with the ladies. Friends, including her best friend Cristen who is also single and has made her own mistakes, try to open her eyes to the reality that her out of town lover is exactly what he seems. It is up to De'Cee to realize things for herself. She could learn something from the advice of her friends and more surprisingly, MarShawn! In love you must be careful with your body and your heart. Mama always said a hard head makes a soft behind! Chances are if each time you do the same thing you are likely to get the same result. One can only hope that some day from all the failure and heartache paid for love that a lesson can be learned and maybe an attempt will be made to try something different.
